The old Wickham Community Pool was constructed in the 1960’s, was badly dilapidated and was not compliant to current DoH Codes. APS were awarded the D&C Contract to construct a new 25m Lap Pool, Pool Water Treatment Plant, Concourse and Shade Sail Structure as part of the staged major revitalisation of the Recreation Precinct.
APS undertook a Geotechnical Investigation and all Structural Design for the new swimming pool and concourse. Demolition of the existing pool and excavation works took place with recycling of waste at above 75%. A new 45,000L Pre-Cast Concrete Balance Tanks was craned and installed on site.
A new SkyPool Stainless Steel Panel Pool was installed by APS’s in house team of certified installers. An ELBE Elite Pool Liner will be installed in a striking colour scheme of Arctic White and Deep Blue Lane Lines. Rosa Flor pool tiles will be installed to the finger grip and the pool furniture will include 316 SS lane rope anchors, grab rails, ladders, starting blocks and new lane ropes. Poolside furniture including bench seating will be fitted to the new concourse. A cyclone rated retractable shade sail system will be installed and new brushed concrete concourse with additional drainage to avoid pooling at the existing Amenities building and concourse.
Builders works to the PWT plant room include plant room lighting, mechanical ventilation, new doorways, GPO’s, new switchboard, tundishes and plant room drainage.
