Hayman Island Refurbishment

Project Details

Following Cyclone Debbie in 2017, Hayman Island Swimming Pool and Pool Water Treatment Plant required major refurbishment works.   The main resort pool measures over 7,000m2, contains over 6.5 million litres of water, is the largest pool in the Southern Hemisphere and 9th largest pool in the World.

Aquatic Project Solutions were contracted to extensively renovate the resort swimming pool.  Works included stripping out the old liner, extensive concrete cancer repairs and render repairs to the swimming pool.

An ELBE reinforced PVC membrane was installed to the entire swimming pool to provide an exclusive finish with a 15 year water tightness warranty.  Over 500lm of steps, benches and ledges were laid.

The Pool Water Treatment Plant was expertly re-designed by GHD and involved completely stripping out and removing the old system before constructed a new gantry system to aid in the installation of the new plant. The pool sanitisation system consists of an AIS specially developed sea salt chlorinator.

The logistical planning and scheduling of resources involved to carry out such large scale renovation in such a remote location is testament to the Aquatic Project Solutions team.

The project is at Pre-Commissioning stage and has been delivered on time and on budget.
